Amber Cipywnyk (Vinnie) is a digital comic artist, illustrator, character designer, storyteller and animator localized in Calgary, AB with a passion for monsters, borderline body horror and world-building. A 4th year student of Illustration and Character Design in the School of Design at AuArts, Vinnie is planning to graduate with a minor in comics in 2025. Vinnie is proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and Toon Boom Harmony. Vinnie is primarily a comic artist and character designer, but dabbles in graphic design, book covers and editorial illustrations.
Vinnie is pushed to create, write and draw through an innate curiosity with the world, how it functions and what would happen if you threw a wrench into it. Getting to mess around with biology and science is one of the most fun parts of being an illustrator, and more importantly a character designer. Vinnie often asks herself “how would this animal work if it had to survive underwater?” or “what if the end of the world had a physical manifestation? What would it act like? And would it even have a brain?” Questions like these allow Vinnie to create many more vivid characters, environments and stories for people to enjoy.
